The York County
Astronomical Society* will be offering a FREE New Telescope
Clinic at their Observatory at John C. Rudy County Park on
Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM.
Did you get a new telescope for Christmas or just need help with
a telescope? The society is
offering a New Telescope Clinic to help you setup and learn how
to use your new telescope.
Bring your telescope and
all the items (including the manual) that came with it to our
observatory at John C. Rudy County Park anytime between 7:00
PM-9:00 PM March 20th and receive startup help.
Our experience has shown that many telescopes that are purchased
are used once or twice and then never used again due to
frustration. The first night out with a new telescope can be
daunting as you try to perform all the initial setup work
required. Let us help you with this daunting task and get you
started on the right foot the first time out with your new
scope.
We will check out your new telescope, help you align the finder
scope, demonstrate how your telescope works, and help you with
some initial observations of the sky. Bring any accessories you
received so that we can show you how they are used.
Take home a free Star Chart to help you continue your
exploration of the nighttime sky.
This is a FREE program and will be offered even if it is cloudy.
(Initial Observations dependent on a clear night, but we will
still be able to align your scope and show you how it works).
You may arrive anytime between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Dress warm and in
layers.
Call the YCAS Hotline at (717) 578 – 9109 or check
